The 13 Best No Code Tools in 2023

In the last few years, a lot of new No Code tools have been created to help businesses, makers and marketers with their day to day tasks. These tools can range from simple websites that automatically generate free illustrations of people (Humaaans), breathtaking landing page creators (Webflow) or powerful builders that can be utilised to make complex, highly functional websites (Bubble).

We have vetted a list of the 13 best No Code tools out there:

The problem is there are so many of these types of No Code services out there now that it can be hard for people who don't work in the tech or marketing fields themselves to know what No Code apps are worth checking out and what aren't.

That's why we're going to go over some of the best No Code tools on the market right now, in 2023.

No Code Tools for App Development

No code tools for app development allow you to create and customize mobile applications without having to write a line of code. Making changes to your application can be as easy as dragging and dropping new features or uploading an image.

They are perfect for anyone who wants to build their own software but doesn't know anything about writing code.

Adalo

Adalo is intuitive, quick and easy to use. This platform which can be used by someone with no knowledge of coding, helps you build fully functional apps quickly with the features content creators need to make your idea thrive.

Although your ideas may require custom work for individualized needs, Adalo helps entrepreneurs have a starting point so that they create experiences without limit using specific business scenarios or even just general timelines.

If you've ever wanted to put an app on the market but don't know where to start then Adalo is a great No Code platform worth checking out before investing any more time into development that will cost tens of thousands over time.

Examples of what you can make in Adalo

From event registration to service purchasing + everything in between - there's a possibility to make an app for everything. You can also create directories or appointment apps to your heart's content with a simple drag and drop interface.

Adalo has a simple and easy-to-grasp user experience. It is fairly easy to use but where it becomes complicated is around database collections, which require time to fully understand.

However, there are some awesome resources available for creating apps with this platform and upgrading plans will allow connections to APIs as well!

Reasons why Adalo is a good option for building apps:

  • The UX is great
  • The platform has a good information base for learning
  • Well-priced options to launch apps
  • Lots of features and potential to make powerful apps
  • Expanding list of templates and plug-ins to make your apps more functional

Glide

Glide user interface

In the "turn your Google Sheets data into an app" category of No Code tools, Glide is probably the most popular and certainly one of the best.

This data-first approach to app building means that having a dataset completed in Google Sheets, anyone can build an app in 5 minutes, which might sound extreme, but if your app is pretty simple, it is certainly possible.

Of course, database design is an important aspect when making software and it only becomes more important when building an app data-first.

However, you know what they say - practice makes perfect. Therefore, if you want to try making your first app, Glide is probably the best choice for you.

Before building your first app, you might want to get some inspiration. Thankfully, Glide has a great template library which you can explore and see what's possible.

Each template specifies the number of times it has been used, therefore you can see what kinds of apps are the most popular on the platform.

With the recent update of Glide on October of 2023, the No Code software development platform received a beta versions of SQL data sources and call APIs.

Users can now can now directly connect Glide to MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Google Cloud SQL.

It has also added the ability of sending data from Glide to external APIs and retrieve data right into Glide without the need for 3rd party tools like Make or Zapier.

Most important reasons to choose Glide:

  • Awesome UX
  • Plentiful tutorials
  • Easy to add/manage backend data, which is in Google Sheets
  • Good pricing
  • A big library of templates to base your app on

AppyPie

Take your creative side to the next level with Appy Pie, the best way to create automations AND build apps.

Connect all of your favorite apps like Airtable, Email, and Zoom by using the simplified integration with Appy Pie. You can also use the integrated chat tool so you can answer queries from clients quickly and easily.

The free graphic design tools let you make banners, cards, logos, posters designs ads that would leave customers wanting more!

However, as good as it sounds, all of this comes at a price - AppiePie is one of the most expensive No Code tools out there. Unfortunately, while the free plan does allow you to create apps, you'll need to pay if you want to publish and actually use them.

Reasons to like AppyPie:

  • Can be used to create both apps and automations
  • Graphic design software is included
  • Easy to make an e-commerce app
  • Lots of integrations with popular software like Gmail, Zoom, Facebook, Airtable etc.

Which is the best No Code Platform for development?

Each of the aforementioned No Code platforms has its own distinct strengths and drawbacks that make them best used for a specific purpose.

Adalo is the best at making complex mobile apps, ones that need many users talking with each other in a web conference, or that need to process a lot of data.

Glide, on the other hand, is best used for apps that are very simple - for example, ones that have a few screens and little backend. It's most suitable for someone who just wants to create an app with very little effort, more than anything else.

AppyPie as a No Code app builder is somewhere in the middle - it has a good user experience and it can be used to create apps of varying complexity.

It has added bonuses too, with the possibility of setting up automations and using the included graphic design software. There's a chatbot development tool too!

Marketing is a tricky discipline. There are only so many hours in the day to produce content, find leads and engage on social media channels.

No Code tools for marketing make these processes easier, usually put more than one aspect of online marketing into a single dashboard and result in an easier onboarding experience for the user.

Some even verge on the edge of website builders (A good use case for MailChimp is that it can be utilised to make landing pages)!

Pick Mailerlite if:

You represent a small business with a limited budget

MailerLite is one of the best email marketing tools for small businesses because it's an affordable and easy-to-use tool. MailerLite provides email marketing software solutions for small businesses, and while it does not offer everything you need from your business’s email marketing campaign, it might be a worthwhile investment.

MailerLite is truly a lightweight No Code tool. It has the best parts of other email marketing tools without overcomplicating things.

If you need an easy to use email marketing tool, MailerLite might be for you. It has features that are user-friendly and helpful for beginners.

MailerLite offers customer support in 12 (!) languages. It is better than Mailchimp here because MailerLite has email support even for its free plan, while Mailchimp only offers it on paid plans.

However, there is no phone support from Mailerlite with any plan, while you can call MailChimp if you are a premium user.

Quality of Support MailChimp vs Mailerlite

Pick MailChimp if:

You need everything in one place

Mailchimp has been changing a lot since a few years ago. It's now more than just an email service. Mailchimp is now one of the best marketing tools out there because it offers many different features, such as automation, CRM, and social media scheduling.

The most recent change to Mailchimp is the addition of customer lifetime value and contact profiles which are very useful for businesses. In general, Mailchimp offers better all-in-one marketing software than MailerLite.

Mailchimp is better than MailerLite when it comes to data too. It provides a lot of information, including how many people open your emails, click on them, and unsubscribe from them.

Mailchimp also provides information about who your subscribers are and about how much money you can make with your email campaigns.

MailChimp and Mailerlite number of users

Reliability and using a trusted product is very important

Mailchimp is used by some of the world's biggest brands. It does scale beautifully indeed (unfortunately, so does the price). Mailchimp is the most popular email marketing tool on the market and has to back this reputation up with speed and reliability.

Most enterprise customers still choose Mailchimp over other tools such as MailerLite because of its reputation. A tool with a huge user base is less likely to shut down due to technical issues.

In addition, MailerLite can sometimes be slower than other tools, including Mailchimp. This might not matter if you use your email marketing only occasionally but if you are doing it at scale then this could become a problem.

Omnisend

If you have an online store, try Omnisend - one of the top No Code email marketing platforms specifically made for ecommerce businesses. It is currently one of the highest-rated email marketing platforms on Shopify, BigCommerce, and more.

Omnisend email builder UI

With Omnisend, ecommerce merchants can easily reach their audience—not only communicate with them via email, SMS or push notifications, but also to capture their email address or phone numbers using various signup forms. Although it has a lot of advanced ecommerce features, Omnisend is still intuitive enough for an absolute novice to start working with. That means that there’s no coding, HTML knowledge or other technical skills needed; however, it does allow for deeper customization for those users with coding knowledge.

Perhaps the strongest part of Omnisend—besides its popups, drag-and-drop email builder, Facebook Ads sync and more—is its automation.

These emails are automatically sent to contacts after they perform an action, like abandoning a cart or signing up for your newsletter. They bring in 27 times more sales than regular emails, and Omnisend makes it very easy to set up. This helps merchants save time and still get more sales.

No Code Tools for Automation

Zapier

the user interface of Zapier, a No Code automation tool
Zapier user interface

Zapier is a tool that people use to automate work. If you are a person who does not know how to do this, Zapier can help you, as it makes learning automation easy.

You should use Zapier if you need your work done faster than doing it yourself, automating tasks like notifying your team when a new post is shared on your company's social media.

There is also library of suggested automations called Zaps, which is constantly growing. It is a great start to your automation journey.

Things to love Zapier for:

  • Many Zaps (automations) to choose from, even more to come in the future
  • Simple UX is transparent in terms of showing how the tools works
  • Tutorials are aplenty
  • This No Code tool is used by many, therefore there is a big community that you can always ask for help

Workato

Workato user interface

Workato is another No Code automation tool for marketers (or people in charge of any other business processes) who want to make work easier.

Workato's as a low code platform's flexibility extends across various functions including HR, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Support, and IT.

Furthermore, the platform is commendable for wide-ranging app integration capabilities, among them Salesforce, Slack, and ServiceNow integrations.

This No Code tool offers a unique blend of integration, automation, and AI power. By infusing AI into business operations, the platform transforms conventional processes into intelligent, seamless experiences.

Pros of Workato:

  • Free training and certification
  • 1200+ pre-built connectors, workflows, and proven architectures
  • Technical support is 5 out of 5. They are always available on the chat room whenever you need them.

Integromat (Make)

Integromat (Make) User interface

In essence, Integromat is a very similar tool to Zapier or Workato, as it fulfills the same purpose - making the automation of tasks easy with No Code.

There are a few cool things about Integromat too: you can create triggers and actions that link you to other apps (basic automation via the pre-made automation library).

It's also possible to connect to any website or app with HTTP/SOAP and JSON integration (more advanced automation, as you will have to set up things yourself, but it's still doable without code).

Setting up a workflow with Integromat

Additionally, it features a nice graphic user interface that lets you set up a complex branching automation visually (which we think is super cool).

Good things about Integromat:

  • Affordable pricing across the board of plans
  • Library of workflows that are ready to be used
  • Many videos and tutorials about how Integromat works. There are also tutorials on more complex processes like how to use integrations, change workflow settings and more.

Aren't All No Code Tools for Automation the Same?

The three platforms for automation mentioned above seem pretty similar. How should one choose between them?

Pricing

Let's start off with the pricing. Out of the three tools, Integromat definitely has the best free plan. For example, it allows 1000 operations per month compared to Zapier's 100 and Workato does not even have a free plan.

Moving up the price range to the premium plans, Zapier seems like the best choice for really big teams (20 people or more), but the most expensive one for teams smaller than that.

For people that need really quick data refreshing (automating website with huge amounts of traffic, for example), a 1-minute data refresh capability will be the cheapest on Integromat, with $29/month, with Zapier being the most expensive at $255/month.

Pricing of Zapier, Integromat and Workato

In terms of pricing, I'd suggest picking the cheapest one until you have gained experience with automation and know exactly what you need.

Only then you will be able to pick the optimal plan from the most suitable provider and reset all of your automations on another platform to save some cash.

Ease of Use

Zapier is the one that is the easiest to learn and use out of the three. It is also the one with the biggest community of users, therefore getting help from others will be the easiest using this platform.

Zapier does not even have chat-based help, while Integromat is the one that provides the biggest database of training webinars, documentation and videos.

In the end, it really comes down to which format is your favourite for seeking help.

Support Ratings of Integromat, Workato, Zapier

Functionality

Integromat is the only No Code tool (out of the ones mentioned in the article) which has mobile deployment, both on iOS and Android.

It also has data management, which is lacking from the two other alternatives. In terms of pure available functions, Integromat is best, while Workato is the poorest.

Best Automation No Code Tool

Because of its extensive learning library, best pricing AND best functionality, we can definitely recommend Integromat (Make) as the best No Code automation tool out there in 2023 (we're not kidding - we use it ourselves too!).

No Code Tools for Web Development

Finally, of course, we couldn't not write about our favourite type of No Code: web development tools.

As a team of developers and designers, we have more experience using these tools than anything else out there, that is why we can confidently recommend them all.

Elementor

the UI of the Elementor website builder, a No Code tool

WordPress is the most popular CMS on the planet. However, if its users want to build more than an oldschool blog, they will need a plugin for building websites.

Powering more than 9.3% of all the world's websites, Elementor is the weapon of choice for those unwilling to compromise on anything short of a WordPress site but can't (or don't want to) code.

Elementor can be relied on for WordPress hosting, as well. Offering best-in-class cloud hosting features, it packs a mean, one-two punch.

Give Elementor a try for its:

  • Cloud hosting for WordPress
  • Intuitive drag-and-drop editor
  • Powerful code-free form and popup builders
  • Optimised for quickly-loading websites

Elementor is one of the most heavily-used website builders, and with ample reason. You simply won't find a more streamlined, hassle-free way of creating WordPress sites at scale. Its hosting feature position has the potential to completely change the way web creators approach WordPress and will likely see thousands forgoing traditional hosting options.

Webflow

designing a website with Webflow, a No Code web development tool
Webflow user interface

Webflow is the poster child of the amateur-friendly No Code movement.

It is a website development platform that puts great focus on simplicity: in SEO, in designing your webpage, in setting up an e-commerce platform.

It's easy to learn, doesn't require knowledge of code (it does have the ability to insert custom code into your website if you need it) and has all the right tools to design an incredible landing page for your business.

Finally, Webflow is optimised for the development of quickly-loading websites, which is proven to have a positive impact on your users, resulting in lower bounce rates.

Give Webflow a try for its:

  • Landing page design capabilities
  • Ease of use
  • Custom code integration
  • Optimised for quickly-loading website

Webflow is our favourite tool when it comes to making simple, but beautiful websites quickly (and we are not the only ones with this opinion).

If you are interested in getting your website built with Webflow, but you are not sure if you can do it yourself, don't hesitate to contact us and we will make sure that you end up with the best possible implementation of your vision.

Bubble

No Code website building with Bubble
Bubble user interface

I have a confession to make - Bubble isn't really a No Code platform that's very easy to use. In terms of user-friendliness, it reminds us more of a Low Code builder than a No Code tool.

However, many (software developers, for example) learn that it is an excellent web app creator once they have learned a little bit about developing with No Code.

Even though it takes a while to figure out (especially the responsive web development functionality), Bubble makes it up in the flexibility of its use cases:

  • Creating custom fields
  • Setting up forms and surveys
  • Generating PDFs, HTML pages or interactive reports
  • Making complex workflows and building workflow automations
  • Integrating external services, such as Facebook, Google or Stripe
  • Automatically translating your website into 80+ languages

Bubble is a No Code tool that we use for most of our projects, especially those that are complex. Many projects later, we have figured out its ins and outs.

If you started a project that you are not sure how to finish - give us a shout and we will do it for you!

  • (This one's personal) Our favourite web application creator

Conclusion

We've compiled a list of the best No Code tools for you to choose from. You may find it hard to decide which one is right for your project, but honestly, any of these options will be excellent choices.

No matter what type of project you are working on, there is a No Code tool that will work for you.
